Another fallen star

To whom does life owe an explanation? If I knew I would question the death of many fallen music soldiers and loved ones. It seems like after Michael Jackson, death became so easy to do.

The death of Whitney Houston was a total shocker. Pronounced dead at her hilton hotel in Beverly; cause of death not yet known. It was hard to believe the news that hit the radio waves later that night of her death. So far criminal intents have been ruled out as a cause of her death. I could only think of one other thing that could have suddenly ended the life of this crooner; drug overdose.

Ms. Houston had been in and out of rehab centers and she fought hard against addiction. Yet her achievements in life over shine her addiction life. She had the best records of all time. If Michael Jackson was the king of pop then Whitney Houston was undoubtedly the queen of pop.  R.I.P Ms. Houston, you will greatly be missed.

The power of music

It’s amazing how medicinal music could be. Try it! For the first time in so many years I slept with some soft rock music last night and oh boy was it colse to the best sleep I ever had?
Music is powerful. In fact it is so powerful that it brought down the walls of Jericho. The angels in heaven sing God’s praises all day. God Himself is pleased by it, it therefore has to be the greatest gift, talent ever. I love every kind of music, I am not very picky. As long as it sounds good then it’s worth a listen. From gospel to jazz, soft rock, and rhythm and blues you name it. Music is so relaxing that it has been used as a non pharmacologic form of treatment in the health care fields.
Music is able to manipulate all your emotions especially if its well sung and played. I really don’t care for the kind of music that is all over the place and awfully loud for no reason. Its just a pain in the butt, and will give you a nasty headache. But when you listen to the soft soothing music with carefully written lyrics, it will knock you right out. I have tried to complete my assigments with some soothing music in my ears and it worked perfectly well.
So I struggle with sleep every now and then simply because I live a very chaotic and busy life, at least until school is done. I juggle between work, school assignments and clinicals, and family. Twenty four hours just don’t seem enough to get everything done and spend time with everybody including myself. Besides learning ways to relax, it was crucial for me to be able to sleep well at night. Music brings memories from way in the past. As you feel relaxed listening it carries you across the borders to la la land. You begin to see yourself in the words of the singer; and that is the reason I only listen to music with positive messages. I know the power of music and therefore do not want to be conformed to any violent or aggressive messages.
In case you are wondering, just sit back and throw in one of your all time favorite compact disk in the player and let it work its magic. Go on and collect a number of records that you loved especially growing up, somehow those have the best effect. One day the songs we listen to now will have the same effect a couple of years from now. Whenever you are down, tired, sick, angry, mad, or just feeling insanely out of tune just listen to some good old music.

Money, Power, and Respect

Poverty is transient or better yet a state of mind only the individual has control of. To some it appears inherent, those who are born and die in it. Even oppressive is when we turn on our tvs and see Hollywood stars spend millions of dollars on what we might consider vain. Legal or illegal how they make their money, they command a lot of power and respect. The Hollywood’s stars are so many that we could name at least one right off the top of our heads. We love some and some we love to hate.

Mel Gibson is for instance one of them. He has produced, directed, and acted many movies and most of them I liked. Although what almost freezed my brain about him was the millions that were at stake of his divorce. When I saw the figure I wondered if I would be able to make the smallest fraction of that amount before I die. $425 million dollars. He could donate about $30 to every American and still keep some change. That’s how insanely rich he is. The list goes on, but I want to mention Asthon Kutcher too.

One of my all time favorite singers is Seal. And when I heard about his divorve, it made me shed a tear. He appears to be the perfect daddy and hubby. The divorce does not change how I feel about him. He is still an awesome singer and had a beutiful wife. What is riduculous is him using his divorce in order to market his upcoming album. Of course it’s a smart move, but Hollywood c’mon now. Every opportunity they get to make more millions in their banks and become more popular they will take. The list goes on, but I would like to add Kim Kardashian to the list? Do you notice a glitch?

Just recently Detroit’s Prince Fielder was offered an astounding amount of $214 million dollars to stay with the Tigers. Of course he agreed to the 9 year deal. There are so many other who have been offered deals but don’t compare to this. They own the most exoensive pads, they drive the best cars, and they live out loud. They mean and live the words “money makes the world go round”.
